Robert Nozick died on January 23, 2002, after a long battle with cancer.

A large portion of Robert Nozick’s Anarchy, The State and Utopia is dedicated to refuting the theories of John Rawls. Specifically, Nozick takes issue with Rawls’ conception of distributive justice as it pertains to economic inequalities.

Nozick’s first book, Anarchy, State and Utopia, published in 1974, along with Rawls’s A Theory of Justice were the two most influential books regarding political philosophy in the 20th century. Fredric C.
