Advanced signal processing techniques for pulsed-doppler
Doppler techniques allow the blood flow in these organs to be assessed. For instance, it has been shown that reduced perfusion of the sub-endometrial myometrium is associated with sub-fertility. Furthermore, most pathological processes involve alteration of the normal vascular pattern. Doppler ultrasound is unable to determine the specific location of velocities within the beam and cannot be used to produce color flow images. Relatively inexpensive Doppler ultrasound systems are available which employ continuous wave probes to give Doppler output without the addition of B-mode images. Using Doppler ultrasound, the main branch of the uterine artery is easily located at the cervicocorporeal junction, with the help of real‐time color imaging.
